(SMCI)

The Congress

The 7th Pan African Congress of Mathematicians (PACOM) will be held from Monday 3rd to saturday 8th of August 2009 in Yamoussoukro (Côte d'Ivoire), at the Félix Houphouët Boigny Foundation for Peace Research, on the theme :

New trends in the Development and

the applications of Mathematical Sciences.

It will welcome participants from Africa and the other continents. At this occasion, worldwide well-known Teachers and Researchers will give an up-to-date overview in the Mathematical Sciences and indicate the new research trends at the theoretical level as well as their applications to Computer Science, Biology, Physics, Economy, Engineering Sciences, Industry, etc. All the fields of Mathematics and their subdivisions in the sense of the Mathematics subject Classification MSC 2000 will be covered, as well as topical issues in Mathematical Education and Popularization.

The Academic Activities

The academic activities will be composed as follows :

1) Sessions of one hour (01h) Plenary conferences delivered by outstanding mathematicians invited to bring out the recent achievements in the Mathematical Sciences and show the current research trends.

2) Parallel sessions of forty five minutes (45 mn) lec-tures given by invited lecturers on their own research works.

3) Communications of twenty five minutes (25 mn), given by the participants in various areas of speciali-zation.

4) Posters.

5) Documentaries, books and didactic materials exposition.

The Social Activities

There will be excursions, visits of touristic sites and traditional dances for participants' relaxation.

The Participation to the Congress

The Pan African Congress of Mathematicians is open to all Mathematicians from Africa and the other continents. The african Mathematicians from the Diaspora are parti-cularly invited to participate actively to this Congress.

The General Assembly of the AMU

On Sunday the 2nd of August 2009, will be held the AMU ordinary General Assembly, on which occasion it will be proceeded to the renewal of the AMU Executive Committee, through the election of the President, the Secretary General, the Treasurer, the five (05) Vice-Presidents for the five geographic regions (North Africa, Southern Africa, Central Africa, East Africa and West Africa).

The Pan African Mathematical

Olympiads (PAMO)

Shortly preceding the Congress, will be held the 19th Pan African Mathematical Olympiads (PAMO), a competition of excellence among the High school boys and girls of african countries. The results will be proclaimed during the opening ceremony of the Congress.
