To introduce the student to the theory of Hilbert spaces and basic Lebesgue integration.

Inner product spaces and their completion. Geometric theory of Hilbert spaces. Orthonormal basis. Orthogonal polynomials. Standard classes of linear operators in Hilbert spaces. Unbounded operators. Lebesgue integral on the real line. Basic properties of the Lebesgue integral. Lebesgue spaces.


Class tests and/or assignments (33%), 3h exam (67%).

30% Class mark, 80% attendance at lectures & tutorials.
